Overview
Tabular review is a powerful functionality in Legora that acts as a smart spreadsheet, allowing you to create multiple questions that will be run across hundreds of documents.
To make the most of Tabular Reviews, start by setting up your workspace. Here’s how:
Access Tabular Reviews: Navigate to the Tabular Reviews section and click on either the plus sign in the left panel or the plus sign under Tabular Review in the main panel.
Set Up a New Review: After opening a new review, you'll see a blank table ready for your documents and questions. Here rows are documents and columns are questions. One Tabular review can handle up to 10 000 cells.
Adding Your Documents: Here, you can add documents from your uploaded documents or your organisation’s database, upload new ones, or combine all.
Setting Up Questions
Now that your documents are ready, let’s add your questions.
Adding Columns: Click on "Add Column" to start a new question. Each column can represent a unique question or prompt.
Labelling and Prompting: For simple questions, like identifying parties or contract dates, adding just a label might be enough. For more complex questions, you might want to include a detailed prompt to guide the response.
Selecting a Format:
Text: Get a detailed explanation.
Bulleted List: Organise information into bullet points.
Yes/No: Get straightforward responses when looking for confirmation or negation.
Date: For date-specific answers, select this format.
Tag: Define a list of tags for Legora to choose from (Legora will select one).
Multiple Tags: Define a list of tags for Legora to choose from (Legora will potentially select multiple).
Verbatim: Extract specific text from each document.
Manual Input: Legora will not perform any action on this column type, and instead you can then add a manual comment which is persistent through the reviews.
Using Templates
Tabular Reviews comes with several pre-made templates designed by Legora, your organisation and colleagues. These can be used as-is, customised, or you can create your own from scratch. Options include:
Importing and Customising Templates: Start with a pre-made template and adjust it to suit your needs.
Saving and Sharing: Your custom templates can be saved for future use or shared with colleagues.
Viewing Responses and Exploring Details
Once you’ve added your documents and your first questions, Tabular Reviews starts to populate answers right in the table. For deeper insights:
Click for Details: Selecting a response opens a right-side panel with more information about how the answer was generated, including reasoning and relevant document references.
Explore Document References: Click on references to be taken directly to the specific section in the document where the answer is drawn from.
Choose your language
Legora currently supports a wide range of languages globally. Choose the language that best suits your needs.
Exporting Your Results
When you’re ready to export your data, Tabular Reviews offers several options to tailor the output to your needs:
File Formats: Export in .csv, .xlsx, or .docx, depending on your preferred format.
Customisation Options: You can choose to include reasoning in the responses and format the table as an inverted table if needed.
Include Prompts: Toggle this to include the prompt in the export.
Collaborating on Tabular Reviews
You are able to share your Legora projects with colleagues, who can then access Tabular Reviews that have been run and run their own Tabular Reviews as well. Learn more about collaborating on Tabular Reviews here.
Best Practices
For the best results, here are a few tips:
Be Specific with Prompts: Clear, focused questions will yield the most accurate answers. If you are looking for a more advanced answer, instruct Legora with context as you would a fellow colleague.
Use Appropriate Answer Types: Choose formats that match the type of information you’re looking to extract.
Organise Questions Logically: Arrange questions in a way that reflects the information you need, starting with broad inquiries and moving to specifics.
Troubleshooting
If responses aren’t quite what you expected, consider:
Clarifying the Question Scope: If a prompt seems too broad, try breaking it down into more specific questions.
Ensuring Context is Clear: Make sure the prompt provides enough detail for Legora to give a meaningful response.
We hope this guide helps you get the most from Tabular Reviews, whether you’re new to it or looking to enhance your workflow. Happy reviewing!
